From November 6 – 17, 2017, the 23rd UN Climate Change Conference (COP23) took place in Bonn. On behalf of “Bildung trifft Entwicklung (BtE),” Madiba Consult moderated the program of the so called “Climate Planet,” which is an oversized, walk-in globe. On the inside of the globe, a 360° film was shown that depicted the consequences of climate change. Accompanied to that, Madiba Consult provided the technical input of the connection between climate change and the development aid sector, as well as the role of the BMZ in the climate change process. The primary goal is to make the exhibition visitors aware of the severe consequences of climate change: Since 1992, climate induced damage has almost quadrupled. Weather extremes and their consequences like flooding, drought, heat waves, and forest fires increase daily. Most of the time, developing and emerging countries are hit the hardest and can hardly deal with the serious consequences. That is why climate policy also development policy.
The program has been organized by Engagement Global and the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ).
